Im getting a wrangler in the near future (not sure what year) but I need to know what some of the various mods are I can put on the car, how much they cost, and how much they will help horse power and gas mileage. also, Im not really interested in improving the sound system or lifting it, just improving performance

Ok, here is the real deal, get a K/N air flilter then in the stock intake line there is a reducer fitting (at the connection to the air fliter box, remove it, then get a throttle body spacer (help performance and MPG! finally change the exhaust go to a good muffler shop check the pipes for leaks and crushed spots then replace the muffler with a good flowing unit like a flowmaster. K/N filter maybe $50, Poweraid spacer less than $100, Exhaust should not be over $150 (probaly closer to $100 if no pipe work) every thing but the exhaust can but done yourself in about a hour! Finally good tires and keep the tires inflated

Okay for one just because everyone else here says to lift it that's your decision after you get one.! I would say any yr after 1990. My husband has a 2001 and it took a few yrs before he lifted and did anything major to it. They are really good little vehicles to drive. They can be noisy but you get used to that! Gas mileage is really tough but if you keep it tuned up and in shape you should be fine. Lifting it does not help gas mileage nor do any mods unless you put a super charge in the engine. Check htt://www.Adirondackjeeps.com for any questions and helpful advice. They are an off road group who can give you some really good advice in the forums. If you plan to take it off road they can give you advice on that too. Happy Jeep hunting and Good Luck!!

If you think you will be taking the jeep racing down the road, make sure to let your friends and family know what you would like at your funeral. Jeep Wranglers are not made to go fast, nor are they made for making corners fast. Once you factor speed and corners in with a Wrangler, you are going to roll that bad boy over. If you want a go fast Jeep, look into the SRT version of the Cherokee. Its made to go fast and is rocking a 400+ hp V8 under the hood.

jeeps are mad for lift kits and BIG tires. not performance. If you want something fast, buy a 8 cylinder rear wheel drive car, or a 4 banger and throw a turbo on it. But jeeps are made for mudding, not horsepower.
