The rabies shot and the 3-in-one (or 4-in-one). This protects against the basics. Don't get both the same day, this is hard on the cat. Spread them out a week apart.

As has been said, distemper combo and rabies. Feline leukemia only needs to be given if your cat goes outside or has contact with any cats that do go outside. Any other vaccine someone tries to talk you into is not necessary.
The distemper combo (which will have initials similar to FVRCP) is only needed every 2 - 3 years, based on lifestyle. Rabies is given based on how frequently your state requires it. Here in Louisiana it's required every year. Some states only require it every 3rd year, in which case the cat would be given a longer acting vaccine.
Make sure the vet you choose is using vaccines made specifically for cats, as this will reduce the chances of a vaccine reaction.

fvrcp, rabies are absolutely necessary, leukemia(FeLV), and immunodefiency(FIV) is spread through direct contact with other cats so if you have only one cat and does not ever go outside the first two will do, but you should get them all
