You mean "searchers," not "rescuers." Fossett, not fossie, has not been rescued.

I know quite a few people that flew those missions, almost went myself. There are several thousand old crashes out there that haven't been documented on the map before, as there are all across the country.
It really has zero to do with being rich or poor. There's a probablility of detection table that considers all the air & ground searches, what time of day they happened, how long it's been since they went missing, the kind of target, everything to the smallest detail we can figure out. When that drops too low, then the mission gets called off, and it was a long time ago. If the family wants to keep searching after that, they do so w/o our resources.
As far as troops being pulled away from anything, much less war, that's far from the case. The Air Force has the responsibility to look for inland air crashes (like the coast guard does in the ocean) and they do that almost exclusively with a completely unpaid volunteer force called Civil Air Patrol (www.cap.gov). You'll find they get the job done for pennies on the dollar - less than the cost of the plane they're looking for in most cases. this mission didn't get any more or less attention than any other. There was a nother mission a couple months earlier in the same state that spent more. It's on the level I promise you. Anything that's happened since the official search was called off & the family stepped up is their business & certianly has nothing to do with govt resources.

A question from someone who obviously has no concept of search and rescue and never worked to rescue anyone.
Only so much time and resources can be spent on any one search. After an area is searched government agencies don't have the money to continue. But a 100% effort is put in by all working to find anyone.
The rich guy's family is paying for this.
Your insinuation is Bull Sht!! And as someone who spent 13 years in helicopter search and rescue I will tell you to shove your question up your computer nerd, weenie little azz.

Yes, lovely Steve Fossie.......the only person to call troops away from Iraq....quite an accomplishment. The RICH sure are favored, aren't they while New Orleans folks are still clawing at attics. So..let's look for Steve.... 1.) He never was on a flight from that private area...he was killed before. 2.) He knew he was getting damn old for risky crap and planned this scam. 3.) He is dead in the Pacific Ocean beause he did his own thing. Time to send those helicopters back to Iraq to fight for Halliburtin and forget Steve.

Adoring might want to know that Fosset's family is paying to find him/ or what is left of him.
Somehow it seems that Adoring and yourself are simply jealous because he had a very successful life, and that his family is able to afford such an extensive search for him.
The green eyes monster is most definately ugly here...

they've discovered more than that. and the answer is most likely, yes. they've spent a lot of time and money trying to find him. the other people weren't "important" enough, i guess. question is--who's paying for all the manpower in the fossett case?!

Seeing as they were plane owners, it's likely that they could very well have been millionaires.

More than three, actually. And it's "Foster". Bob Fosse was a famous choreographer.
