I'm looking for an-all around pocket knife. Something for hunting, yet could be used to cut boxes or for self defense.
I've narrowed it down to a few companies- SOG, Buck, Benchmade, and Gerber.
I prefer serrated edges, lightweight, and something that has a safety.
My final choice would probably be a SOG tiger-striped trident?
what do you think? http://sogknives.com/store/TF-3.html

I have the Gerber Serrated F.A.S.T. Draw knife. Carry and use it as much as I can. I love this knife.

I started out with Buck and Gerber, both very good makers. Graduated to SOG, and love em! Never owned a Benchmade, but have heard good things about them. I also carry the Smith&Wesson Swat series, and enjoy CRKT. The trident is an awesome knife, you have made a great choice!

SOG all the way...of course it is the most expensive... I do not like buck, benchmade is a good knife but I never owned one and Gerber was my first knife 15 years ago or so. I carry a Smith and Wesson SWAT... 40 bucks at a army/navy surplus store.

Not a bad choice. I have a CRKT M16-12M. Similar in style, with half the blade serrated. It has a tough finish, hard to scratch, but easy to keep sharp. Pocket clip, finger swell to assist with opening, and I only paid $45 for it a couple of years ago. The company name is Colombia River Knife and Tool. Look them up. Let your wallet be your guide!!

Out of the three companies SOG is the best, and the trident is a good knife. My brand of knife is CRKT, high quality knife for a good price. Base on your interest in the trident i made a short list of CRKT knives you might like:
CRKT My Tighe (own)
CRKT Triumph Folder With Camo Blades (will own)
CRKT Lightfoot M1 (own)
CRKT Desert Cruiser (own)
CRKT Hammond Cascade Lockback

I like S.O.G and Gerber, but you should check out the line of Smith & Wesson S.W.A.T Folders at www.knifecenter.com
S&W has 36 different models to choose from that run between $30-$60 Retail (They discount all of the retail prices)
They have serrated, lightweight and models with a "safety" too......Check them out . They carry a complete line of folders from 20+ Manufacturers and they have great prices to boot......

I have quite a few knives, and so far, my favorite is Gerber.

That is BY FAR my favorite all-around knife. It's simple to use, stays in tight, but comes out quickly when using your thumb. It locks 100% of the time, extremely durable, and the blades come extremely sharp from the factory. Hands down, the best All-Around knife I've used.

Take a look at the Benchmade Griptilian model 551:
http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=551
or the H&K model 14205:
http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=14205
I like both...and you can find the Griptilian for about $75 on the internet.
