I work out about 4 times a week. Should I drink whey protein on the days I'm not working out? How often and when do I drink whey anyways? I usually only drink it after a workout once a day. I'm trying to bulk up so I was thinking about drinking it twice a day. thoughts?

you can actually drink it 3 times a day if you want to - one with breakfast (dont replace breakfast with it), one after working out and one in the evening (if only 2 skip the evening one).
You can drink it on off days also- the second one after the biggest physical activity of the day preferably.

You are doing the right thing so far by drinking your whey AFTER a workout. The reason this is so beneficial is because whey is a form of protein that is absorbed the FASTEST.

Fast absorption ensures that protein synthesis begins immediately and cortisol is suppressed. Cortisol is a hormone responsible for eating away muscle when the body is placed under stress (like working out).

Once a day is perfectly ok. As for drinking one on days off, it isn't absolutely necessary. As long as your getting enough protein to preserve muscle the source doesn't matter.

As a matter of fact, since your wanting to bulk, the majority of your bulk will come from total CALORIES not so much protein itself. Eating enough carbs gives muscle that extra little "bite" for bulking up.

If you do decide to drink them twice a day morning and post workout are the best times. Otherwise stick with whole foods like seafood, chicken, and eggs.

Yeah definately! I'd recommend it between breakfast and lunch, and then again between lunch and dinner. Does it have a high carb content? it should if you want to bulk.

On workout days you should have it before a workout (about 30 mins to an hour) and after a workout ( within 45 mins). THen if you want some before bed then have some.

Your body needs protein before bed to help repair muscle fibres, because your actually fasting for about 8 hours while you sleep. Your body needs the fuel.

Man of course you need to. that is the time when the healing process took place. you are gaining muscle when you are resting..not when you are working out...remember that. drinking it after workout is also very vital.. your muscle is like a dried sponge at that time...so any supplements will be absorb effectively at this time.. i would like to advise you take it in the first 30-45 minutes just after you work the hell out.. all the best OK.

i usually drink some when i wake up each day (even on days I don't work out) and then after a workout. If you drink it on days you don't work out it will help your muscles recover faster and will help soreness if you have any.

Drinking one on your days away from the gym wouldn't hurt, it might help but you should also focus on eating your protein from "real" food. Also, watch the calories, too much can help you gain the wrong kind of weight.
