i work in a warehouse that uses personal transportation carts an am wondering what is better, four / 6 volt batteries hooked in conjuction to equil 24 volts or two/ 12 batteries . theese are deep cycle batteries i am also wondering what is difference between deep cycle and regular cycle batteries.

My bet is that the original batteries are/were 6V's. I'd try to replace them with something very close to the original type. Golf cart batts. (which is what you've got, yes?) are usually 6V and are much better at high current & deep discharge compared to most 12V batts.

If you are looking for a " rule of thumb" concerning combining batteries for better performance, always go with the largest total package. If 4 -6 volt batteries are larger in size than 2-12 volt batteries, then let that decide.
Deep cycle batteries are more expensive than regular batteries but they last much longer. Especially in your application.

Each recharchable battery has a mAh rating (how many milliamps it can provide per hour), so pick the combination that provides the most; they will last longer.

deepcycle like do do deep discharge.
car batteries get damaged when you drain them lowwwww.
