First you have to be to the point where you say you ARE going to quit, not TRY to quit. Once you decide you will quit, go cold turkey. Keep telling yourself - you only have you stay away from one cigarette (the first one). If you think about never having another smoke it might be too overwhelming. I tried quitting a dozen times but it never lasted more than a day or two until I was ready mentally. I've been smoke free for more than 10 years.
Good Luck! I wish you success

You can psyche yourself out by constantly telling yourself how horrible it tastes over and over and then when you do attempt to put one to your lips it will taste absolutely awful. Ultimately you will need to do some transference technique such as every time you have the urge chew gum or carry around a bottle of water and take a drink. I personally liked the water technique because it not only provides you with something to do with your hands; but, also helps to cleanse out your system. If you are totally serious go visit someone who is dying of lung cancer or take a perfectly white handkerchief and blow cigarette smoke through it as you will instantly note brown gunk on the hankie and you can pretty much bet that it is what smoking is doing to your lungs. Oh, a prayer or two for some help from the man upstairs wouldn't hurt. Hope you succeed. Once one makes up their mind; they can succeed at anything.

I truthfully smoked for ten years. One day I made up our minds to stop smoking. I attempted the whole thing to the nic gum to the patch. I even went to the health practitioner and acquired on therapy. Nothing appeared to paintings, I even began to devour extra. Gaining weight was once no longer some thing I desired to do. So one night my husband made a few espresso, and feel me whilst I inform you I am NOT a espresso drinker. I had an urge to smoke, however as an alternative I made me a few espresso. First cup EVER and I am 28 lol. Anyway, espresso was once the therapy for me. Every time I desired to smoke I might have a few espresso. Needless to mention after approximately a month I discovered that we had been anticipating. SO! I needed to stop besides, even the COFFEE lol. I have no longer had one due to the fact that and my son is four months historic. Don't get me improper I nonetheless believe approximately smoking, but if anyone walks by means of me or my mom comes over and I odor the smoke on their garments, I believe to myself... HOW DID I EVER SMOKE... I can not feel I stunk like that. Anyways, discover some thing else to do, I recognise that caffeine isn't a larger addiction however I do not recollect someone loss of life of it.

Well, out of the three times I quit, cold turkey was the easiest! I absolutely hated the gum. Felt like my mouth was burning after a few days.

The most easiest way is "cold turkey", but is not always effective. It is the only way I know of that is effective. The only hurtle is for those who drink; in which case is nearly impossible. It is a matter of will, as it is for those who are overweight that have to sustain eating large portions of meals.

if you are mentally strong you should be able to quit cold turkey. its not about your body needing it. its about you consciously understanding that there are ill effects and that your are avoiding them. also try thinking of them as disgusting objects so your just less prone to want to touch them.
