When you are busted down in rank your time in grade starts all over again.

For example if you were busted in rank from PFC to PV2 60 days ago - you now have 60 days time in grade as an E2. Any time in grade as a PFC was lost and will have to start all over when (or if) you make PFC again.

you lose your rank to a field grade Article 15. Yes, you're busted down to one rank and start all over again (E-3 down to E-2). And your time in grade will so be busted down to the next rank (E-2).

As with all promotions, one of two criteria have to be met in order to recieve a waiver/ 6 Months time in service, time in grade apply to PFC, however in your case, the time in service does not start again it continues on. Soooo. If your Commander allows a waiver for less than 6 months time in grade your good to go. Both time, and grade cannot be waived but your on easy street because of your time in service. If your good, you'll get it sooner.

You must start from the grade you are busted down to, and work your way back up.
