Here's a recipe for homemade catsup - see anything disgusting? I don't:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 red pepper -- chopped
6 cups canned tomatoes in heavy puree
3/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
Directions:
In a med. saucepan, cook sugar (stirring constantly) over med. heat until it turns deep brown. Add the onion, garlic and peppers; cook for 5 min. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thick (about 45 min.). Puree in food processor and transfer to container.

Ummmmm, sorry to sound so rude (believe me I don't mean it)... but shouldn't this be posted somewhere else?
& by the way, I think if I read the process of making ketchup, I wouldn't have ketchup over everything I eat anymore :P

E-mail or write to a ketchup manufacturer and tell them you were wondering what process is involved in making ketchup.

You just boil the daylights out of tomatoes, add some seasonings & you have catsup. I might have our recipe around here somewhere, but it's cheapeer to just go buy one for 99 cents.

Like any product, it's got odd, hard to pronounce chemicals. Doubt anything in the world is 100% natural.

Hi, I think this covers it. I don't see anything disgusting about how it's made. Maybe your friend doesn't like tomatoes. :-P
