As you can guess, she won't stop throwing up and just stares into blank space. She's normally happy and active, but just hides in the back yard, puking here and there. Any ideas of what I can do to settle her stomache?

(2 hours later, she is running around a little and is eating food and drinking water. Thanks to all those that contributed!)

After she stops throwing up, try to get her to drink some water so she doesn't become dehydrated. The toast suggestion is good, but don't butter it. What she hasn't thrown up should slide right on through with no ill effects.

Get a phonebook and call an emergency vet. They will be of the most help for you. You could also call Poison Control and they can usually refer you to someone that can answer your question.
She's probably going to be throwing up a lot. I can't see why it would kill her, just make her feel really icky.
My best advice is to give an emergency vet a call and ask them.

Addition: Hydrogen Peroxide does induce vomiting but you don't need to give it to her as she is already vomiting. Unless of course a veterinarian recommends doing so.

I would try calling a vet or getting her there and asking them. Thats a lot of butter....ewwww. what was your dog thinking?
Chances are after she pukes it up she will be fine, but its better to be safe than sorry. Its late now, check your phone book for emergency vet offices in your area that might be open 24 hours. Give them a call and ask for advice.

my sister's dog ate a stick of butter this summer -- I was outside fixing I fence in her yard when she came home and found the mess in the kennel -- the smell was unbelievable -- her kid went into the house and came out choking for air -- she took the dog to the vet and he gave her something to settle it's stomach -- the dog was fine after a day or 2 --

If I was you I would call and tell your vet what happened and ask them. I assume the dog will end up being fine but thats a lot of grease in that butter so call your vet.

You need to take her to a vet asap,as she could have pancreatitis, which is life-threatening,It is an inflammation of the pancreas and can be caused by consumption of a large amount of fat at one time.
