Check if your local library has the "epic of flight" series from time life books.

Two volumes: "the airships" and "Knights of the air" deal with zeppelins and WW1 fighter respectively.

Hmm well the aircraft back in the 1910's were mainly used for scouting enemy trenches, scouting/attacking artillery and attacking other planes (after 5 kills pilots would become "ACE". I would say, the use of aircraft had a great impact on the course of the war in terms of reconnaissance... It's not until 1940s you see massive invasions, and bombers and spectacular dog fights which took part in some of the most decisive battles. Hope that helps alittle.

Make report about why we should have joined the other side when we entered WW1, your teacher will find that more interesting than airplanes.

http://mysite.verizon.net/sylvesp/WW1%20Airplanes.html is one site that has some general information.

http://www.theaerodrome.com/ is a really good one with more information about the planes and the aces that flew them.

Try those sites first, you can also go to the following site from a museum standpoint. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/
