I disagree with you. Superstition CAN be helpful. Unless it rules your life to the point where you don't go outside on Friday the 13th, it's certainly not hurting anything. If it makes people feel better, why not let them feel better? It's when they start pushing it on me that makes me angry. Study after study has proven that prayer helps people heal quicker when they're in the hospital. Now *I* know it's mind over matter, but it really does help those who believe. Why knock it if it works for them?

I think that nobody should force upon there own beliefs upon somebody else. They will have to want it. I personally believe that atheists are the same as christians. NOT IN THE RELIGION facts -- BUT the fact that both sides BELIEVE in something. Without hope in this world, without having that extra something, our lives would be miserable. Thats a fact.

I have nothing against religion itself, so there is no need for me to "teach" anyone anything.
It's not up to me to decide what someone should or should not believe, just like I don't accept the notion that someone has the right to chose what I should believe.
People need to find their own path in life, they just need to respect others along the way.

As Christopher Hitchens puts it, far be it much more eloquently than I, the problem with religion is its need to spread to everyone. My neighbor can be a jew, catholic, muslim, whatever as long as he practices in his house and doesn't try to convert me and my family.
Forcing a religion on someone just breeds contempt for that religion. The same thing applies to living a secular lifestyle.

This is the same mentality that bothers me when religous people try to "teach" me out of my heathen ways and save my eternal soul. Don't worry about them. They'll figure it out in the end.

Does it irritate you when Christians try to force their faith on you? When they're so closed minded and completely irrational that it seems almost incomprehensible that anyone would even think like that? and still they're convinced that they're right, and you're wrong?
Well I'm sure it would be hypocritical for you to try to force your beliefs on them then. I think it's fine for everyone to have their opinions and to believe what they want to. and it's okay to share your believes and opinions. that gives others a new perspective to consider. but its not okay to try to force your beliefs on others.
your question sounds almost sarcastic, disdainful and condescending... so it doesn't seem like you have the "god-believer's" best interests in mind. so you should just respect their beliefs and kindly ask them to do the same of yours.

I am an atheist and I feel I should counteract the negativism and lies that are spread about atheists and atheism by some christians.
Other than that, everyone has to find their own path in life. Live and let live, unless they try and prevent you from living.
