Yes, it is excellent news but expect a backlash from those that have consistently pushed for failure as a measure to assure their political success.

Well actually I just returned from Iraq, The reason for the cutback in deaths was the hot summer from about July 1st thru the end of September, The numbers will rise again. Plus Ramadan has just begun there is always an increase about this time.....Hope this helps

The death rate has been going down for U.S. forces in Iraq. But, the "mainstream media" has always played games with the figures. Nearly one in every five deaths from Operation Iraqi Freedom is from non-combat causes. Through December 1st of last year 81% of personnel medically evacuated from Iraq and Afghanistan were suffering from non-combat injuries and diseases. None of the "mainstream media" ever gets around to mentioning that 7,500 active duty personnel died during the eight years of the previous administration or that 9,555 died between 1980 and 1984 when no one was shooting at us.
Don't get me wrong. All deaths are tragic in the military. But, the "mainstream media" seem to be a little selective in their angst.

Yes it's good. I've just seen it on CNN. It just puzzles me on why people always label the news agencies like CNN and BBC as biased whenever these news agencies report of the bad events happening in Iraq, while they're quiet when the same news agencies are reporting of the good events. It appears to me that such people only wish to hear what they wanted to hear, and nothing else, regardless of the realities.

I read the same story. Does that mean it was cut by 50% overall, or from this month last year? Or down from last last month? Was it the surge? I don't know, can we check these numbers next month?

66 US service deaths last month. This is a very good thing. Zero would be better, however.
