Can TMJ cause pain in the skull? I have a lump on one of my ears, where the lobe meets the side of my face, but it feels like a skin infection. However, I have pain along my skull on that side, and in that ear as well. Could this be caused by my TMJ being more predominant on one side than the other (i.e. I'm grinding my teeth more on that side)? I'm scared it might be some sort of cancer of my bone.

Sounds like you should see a Doctor. Make an appointment and find out exactly what it is instead of us losers making a guess.

I have severe TMJ and yes it can cause a lump (from a swollen soft tissue in the area) and pain into the skull. However, I would suggest for you to make an appointment with your doctor or dentist and have it looked at just to be on the safe side. You could have an infection in the jaw or something else going on that can easily be fixed.

Good luck and hope it works out well.

7 years ago I've been involved in a car wreck and even since suffered with severe on and off facial and jaw pain. I've tried almost everything western medicine had to offer and had visited countless of specialist, had done ct scans, and therapies but to no avail. The doctors I have been to had persisted that there wasn't anything wrong with me and that almost drove me crazy as I was going through hell from this condition. According to all my symptoms I was diagnosed by a holistic doctor as having TMJ and he had recommended this book to me. After following the recommendation in the book for several weeks, it had changed my life. I got immediate relief after following the unique set of exercises in the book and after 2 weeks the jaw and face pain had completely gone. I only wish I would have ordered this program years ago. It would have saved me a lot of pain and anguish.

TMJ IS CAUSED BY MUSCLES WHICH CONTRACT AT THE WRONG TIME AND THE ONLY WAY IS TO GET AN N.T.I. BRUXISM APPLIANCE FROM YOUR DENTIST. THIS WOULD AT LEAST DEAL WITH THE TMJ PROBLEMS.
SEE THE LINKS BELOW
ALSO IF THIS DOESN'T HELP DEFINITELY HAVE A PHYSICIAN DO MORE EXTENSIVE TESTS.

see a doctor,,,,how long are you willing to live in fear and discomfort when it may be easily resolved.

also, get a biteguard, a rubber/plastic fitted to your teeth, to wear at night to keep you from grinding your teeth. everyone should have one----every dentist will agree with this.
