I was just wondering how long it took for people to learn to type. Do anyone know of any really good free programs?

Well, I learned how to type fast by playing games. Might not be a good idea for that. You could always check Download.com for some free typing programs.

This may not help. In fact, it may be a bad idea to try. I have always "hunted and pecked." But, now I type as fast as most people who know how to type "correctly" because I don't actually hunt and peck. I guess I sort of know where the keys are if I don't think bout it and my fingers just go there. The reason I say it might be a bad idea is because you wont pass a typing class if you take one. You may want to research this but it seems to me that if you type the way I do then you would be at a lower risk of carpal tunnel. The fact that I type so fast this way, though, may have to do with me spending half my life on a computer.

there are a lot of free typing games on popcap.com and they are fun. I learned starting when I was like in 3rd grade using All the Right Type 3. I would recommend that one. It is not free, though.

Mavis Beacon typing CDs are excellent. If you go to this website and scroll down, you will see a CD (get a new one) for $1.40 and shipping. Believe me, if you want to be a serious typist, you will be happy with this program.
