I just recently purchased a Windows Vista Home Basic Upgrade disk... I was able to install and activate it which is great but, I am afraid that my hard drive may soon go... as it's an older machine. Will I be able to re-install and activate on a new hard drive using the same key? Or because its been activated, will it no longer work?

Thanks...

yes, you will be able to reinstall onto another machine, but you will need to contact microsoft if you have any problems. your vista has already been registered, and the disk was given to you as a backup in case your computer crashes.

good luck :)

I haven't run into this with Vista yet, but I have with XP. With XP, all I had to do was call a toll-free number and they took care of it for me. Vista will probably be the same.

Bill Gates has figured out how to maximum his profit at everyone else expense. In other words Microsoft is not a Nice company. Apple has been saying for years that Bill stole windows from them. Well guess what yesterday in PC Magazine John C Divorak, has an article entitled "Channeling Microsoft Execs", in which they are heard in an audio open line admitting it, as well as as a lot more including "Google". As soon as I seen it I came and uploaded it to Flickr. :)
