My husband today developed a headache (taking ibuprofen did not help), was also nauseous and could not focus his eyes to see objects nearby. He went to see a doctor, who said it was a tension headache and prescribed some medication.
I am, however, still worried. Based on the symptoms, could it be something more serious? Do you think he should get a second opinion?

Could be migraine headache. There are a variety of ways migraines can present but one of them is with headache with nausea and visual disturbances.

Has your husband had headaches of this type in the past but not necessarily this severe? One rule of thumb is that if it's a new type of headache, it should be investigated further. The trouble, however, is that there aren't a whole lot of tests available to investigate headaches - most of the "investigation" is done by listening carefully to the patient's story. If it's a type of headache that the patient has had in the past, it tends to be more reassuring.

If you're worried, by all means pursue a second opinion. Also do so if you feel the first doctor didn't listen to your husband's story well or if he seemed to be in a rush.

Headaches with the following characteristics merit a trip to the ER ASAP - worst headache of life, headache with stiff neck, headache with passing out, headache with repeated vomiting, headache with lethargy or confusion, headache with fever, rapid onset of a new type of headache, headache with trouble with numbness or weakness in a part of the body, or headache with trouble with speech or walking.

Tell your doctor that over-the-counter medicines don't help. He can prescribe other pain relievers. The prescribed meds should also be taken at the onset of the headache before it gets too painful.

Tell your husband to get enough rest and avoid stressful activities. Regular exercise can also help.

Bear in mind that tension headaces occur at both sides of the head and a tight achy feeling at the neck If it's only one side, then it could be migraine. A migraine is usually accompanied by nausea, vomiting, disorientation and blurred vision.

A disorder known as temporomandibular joint (tmj) syndrome where there is malfunction of the hinge at the side of the face that connects the jaw to the temporal bone of the skull, may account for some cases of nagging head pains falsely considered to be migraine.

If it occurs frequently and gets worse, then you should request for brain scans -- CT scan or MRI -- to be sure and for your peace of mind.

We can also always do exercises. There are exercises such as rolling your eyeball to form an invisible square that are always recommended by the doctors to improve one's eyesight.
I don't know about quickly as there is no fast way to reach one's goal.

Vegetarians can help to improve one's eye sight. I believe it because I am a vegetarian and my eye short-sightedness power remains the same without any increase after about 2 years.
The doctor was shocked because teenagers at my years will usually have a most increase since we are always watching TV, playing computers and also reading.
I do not know whether it is totally true or not but it does affect a bit on the result.

it is difficult to pinpoint any one particular cause for your symptoms, since there are several health conditions which give rise to one or more of those your are experiencing. however, from my medical knowledge i will let you know that your symptoms appear to be haematological in origin (ie. relating to your blood). particularly it could be related to low blood count or anemia. this may explain your progressive fatigue, blurred vision and difficulty breathing. it may be due to reduced oxygen carrying capacity of your red blood cells. what's most important, however, is that you'll need to consult with your doctor to obtain a definitive diagnosis, since it;s the only way to be sure. it may well be anemia, but it could also be related to something else. you mentioned that you've improved your diet and you exercise, yet your symptoms persist. now is the appropriate time to see your doctor, since it's apparent thay your condition won't improve without further intervention.

If he has hit his head, it could be a concussion. Also, headaches and nausea are sometimes symptoms of bad vision. He should have his eyes checked out.
