Hey my friend...yes any Dr who has a specialty practice can be or become a general surgeon. For example i work for a doctor who specializes in Geriatrics(older people) he also has a license to practice general surgery if he wanted to but he does not do surgery due to the amount of time it takes up and alot of other insurance reasons. no matter what practice you chose you cant go wrong with being a surgeon.
