your girlfriend is seriously ignorant in wine knowledge. Shiraz as with most wine grapes can wear many faces. A cheap sparkling shiraz is fun and lively but a huge ausie shiraz (torbreck) is not to be taken lightly. No wines should be labeled as girlie or teenie bopper wines..... except flavoured sweetened wines. Arbour mist or Boones or similar plonk.

not at all. it is a nice semi-dry red. most people associate girly wines with sweet wine like white zin, riesling, gewurztramier, something called lambrusco by riunite (never had but clearly popular on this board).
shiraz/syrah to me says a bit adventuourous. it isn't traditional red. slightly peppery, goes great with bbq.

no, not girly at all. it is a nice, dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, peppery red wine. girly wines are : arbor mist, white zinfandel, sweet riesling, etc.
