' In God We Trust Marks Fiftieth Anniversary '
After 50 years of appearing on the back of U.S. dollar bills, the words “In God We Trust” continue to be at the center of debate with some courts examining whether references to God in the public sphere violates the Constitution’s separation of church and state.

I have two thoughts on this subject: 1) I believe those of us who have been born-again underestimated the power of the unseen evil forces inhabiting this world. I think we have a tendency sometimes to have a passive attitude towards evil, thinking that God will handle it. It is up to each believer in Jesus Christ to denounce heresy, beginning in one's hometown and writing to the elected officials. 2) Most of the people who are fighting to keep any reference to God out of the public are those who do not believe He exists. However, if they believe that God is just a myth, why are they so angry?

The term "separation of church and state" is NOT constitutional. It was taken as a misquote from Thomas Jefferson. It is stated as law but it is not!!!
The dollar coins that came out a short while ago and didn't have "In God We Trust" written on them, I consistently refused to accept them as change back from my purchase. There is no violation at all and government officials need to focus on more important things like national security and how they can keep their pants up and stop cheating on their wives. Oh did I say that out loud??? Perhaps they want to take God off our money because everytime they pay a hooker it convicts them. BURNNNNNNN!

Exactly and God help us if this continues! We as Christians have to promise to band together and protest this nonsense. We are a nation founded under the premise of "One nation under God." If the atheists don't like it, they can leave and start their own unholy country! I, for one, am going to write my congressman today and air my views. Did you hear some school already replaced Christmas break with "winter break" so as not to offend the Muslims that were ordered to take down Ramadan posters? Where will it all end? Let's try to all do something about this and not let the non-believers of Christ have a victory over our Lord. It cannot happen, or we as a nation are doomed! Bless you for bringing this up.

Well, considering that there is nothing in the constitution regarding separation of church and state, I find nothing offensive in having the words "in God we trust" on our money. If you have studied history, you would know that this country was founded on the principle of religious freedom. God was at the heart of the early settlers.

The constitution states that there will be no state religion, though. The founding fathers did not want the government to dictate which religion the citizens could practice. They wanted to get away from a mandated religion, like England had. But, they never said anything against having public prayer, and other public forms of worship or belief.

We have taken God out of our schools and the kids have brought guns and killing in. What will happen to us if we totally eliminate God from our country? I believe that America is the top military power, if we remove God from our money we will be ruined economically. There are more Christians in America than not, why should the few dictate to the many. It violates my rights to remove it. If some one doesn't like "In God We Trust" on their money they don't have to use it.

"In God We Trust" is the current national motto of the United States, believe it or not!
.
I'm Canadian, but in God I trust too!!!

The motto has been in continuous use on the one-cent coin since 1909, and on the ten-cent coin since 1916.

It started even earlier than that! The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War, in the 1800's, but not "continuously" until the 1900's.

It also has appeared on all gold coins and silver dollar coins, half-dollar coins, and quarter-dollar coins struck since July 1, 1908...in less than a year, continuosly for ONE HUNDRED YEARS!

I believe this country was made by God and started on the basis of Christian beliefs. I know that America is becoming diverse very rapidly and I am all for the celebration of different cultures. People are not forced to say "God" in the pledge of allegiance, and they shouldnt be forced to worship God if they don't want to. We do need to give him credit in our society, though. If people have a problem with that, they can always move to another country where the majority of people have the same religion. Or just avoid coinage and bills and religious symbols all over their community. Thats my opinion and I am sure many people would love to disagree.

Read Jefferson's (so called) separation of church and state letter (The letter is not part of the constitution). The letter has an opposite message (context) then how the anti-constitution liberals use it.
The constitution only says the government is not to impose a religion (I would think that includes atheism).

Well...one thing I learned working in deep waters...when you cut the anchor, don't be surprised when the ship starts a'rocking.

When you throw away the compass...don't complain about being lost when you look at the map...

when you tell schools that there is no truth, and nothing other than "self" to put your hope in, don't be surprised when the teen-suicide rate keeps climbing (8% spike last year - 100% increase over 30 years)...

yes...let's keep removing God's plan and replacing it with man's plan. the results so far are SOOO promising.

I have to agree. Amazing how everyone flocked to church and wanted prayer when the Trade centers fell. That was God's wake up call. God will not be mocked. He will get people's attention one way or another. Continue to remove Him from all that we've known and stand for. He will get more attention with His mighty hand.
