Hey all,

I am a college student who has recently been experiencing some slight vertigo while working on my on-campus library. It happens briefly and it is not from getting up too quickly. I have been looking into taking some motion sickness medicine, but I am not sure that is the best bet. Could this be more serious than I think? I don't worry too much about it because after all, it is just dizziness that I feel. I am a college student, it could just be stress and exhaustion... right? Input would be highly appreciated.

Never try to self treat vertigo! It is imperitive to see a doctor to discover the cause of it. While vertigo is often nothing major, there are times that it can be a symptom of something serious.

Does it come and go? If so, are you eating healthy? Skipping meals can cause vertigo if your blood sugar gets too low. Of course, it could also be stress.

Is it constant? If so, you really need to be examined for an inner ear issue. Most inner ear problems need to be treated as they will not go away on their own. If it is constant, it could also be so many other things.

You need to see a doctor.

It would depend on the reason I needed something in the first place. If I had a headache, cold, and running a fever, then aspirin would be my choice. I would choose apirin with just about anything medical if it would help the condition such as aches, pains, and fever. I also would use it for the heart since it has saved many lives regarding heart attacks. It's a good idea to take a childs dose to prevent heart attacks. I would use pot if I was facing a serious illness where aspirin would not help but pot would such as severe nausea when someone takes chemo. Both aspirin and pot have their own use in my opinion. I'm not going to take pot if I have a headache at work and anywhere else that needs me to think clearly and drive. That's just stupid and silly. I prefer to think clearly all the time so that's why I would shy away from pot unless it's needed badly and nothing else works well. Aspirin will not work for nausea but I would try another drug for nausea before I would take pot because I like a clear head at all times if possible. I would only use pot as a last choice, but that's me. A lot of other people want to use it for everything from a hangnail to a runny nose. I think these people just like being high, but there are people with life threatening illnesses who are truly sick in which it does help them. I think each one has it's place in society but I still think people who take pot should not drive, make important decisions, or do anything where they need a clear head. Would you want your surgeon to operate on you right after he took pot for his headache? Would you want your kids bus driver bringing your kids home on the bus after he took some pot for his aches and pains? Aspirin would be better in both these cases. No matter how good you think pot might be for whatever, it should not be taken by anyone needing a clear head.

Vertigo has to do with the crystals that are deep inside your inner ear. When tiny pieces of these crystals break loose, they float around inside your ear, throwing your equilibrium off. You need to make an appt. with an ear doctor . By maneuvering the head certain ways, he can help these fragments embed themselves back into the ear tissue. More than likely he will give you a prescription for Valium. Don't ask me how, but the Valium really helps with the dizziness.

Try a web search for vertigo + "natural remedies".
