Hell is the total absence of God. Since God is the source of all comforts, all joy, all peace, and all righteousness, hell is void of all these things. Hell is the opposite. Hell is pure, unadulterated evil, and because there is nothing good there, there is no escape. Ever. You won't even be capable of thinking a single positive thought in hell.

I was well within my Christian life when I realized that I have adopted a complete ideology concerning Hell, but really didn't research the topic independently. There has been a lot of crap on the internet about it, typically coming from the world's supply of born experts: The Atheists.

Instead of believing their rich knowledge I decided to break the mold and try learning it from someone who actually was schooled in Hebrew, W.E. Vine's Expository Dictionary which has been edited by Merrill F. Unger, Th. M. , Th. D. , Ph. D.
and William White, Jr. , Th. M. , Ph. D.

"Sheol" is used of a place of conscious existence after death. In the first biblical appearance of the word Jacob said that he would "go down into the grave unto my son mourning" (Genesis 37:35). All men go to "Sheol" --- a place and state of consciousness after death (Psalm 16:10). The wicked recieve punishment there (Numbers 16:30); Deuteronomy 32:22; Psalm 9:17). They are put to shame and silenced in "Sheol" (Psalm 31:17). Jesus alluded to Isaiah's use of sheol (14:13-15) in pronouncing judgement on Capernaum (Matthew 11:23), translating:Sheol" as "Hades" or "Hell," meaning the place of conscious existence and judgement. It is an undesirable place for the wicked (Job 24:19) and a refuge for the righteous (Job 14:13). Thus "Sheol" is also a place of reward for the righteous (Hosea 13:14; cf. 1 Corinthians 15:55). Jesus' teaching in Luke 16:19-31 seems to reflect accurately the Old Testament concept of Sheol, it is a place of conscious existence after death, one side of which is occupied by the suffering. unrighteous dead separated by a great chasm from the other side peopled by the righteous dead enjoying their reward.

Separation from God
Different degrees, for different things
Hell was not created for man
For Satan and the fallen angels
Outer darkness is a place that no sound is heard, pitch dark
A lot of things are said of hell
I think we give too much attention to it
Only God knows
And the thing is the Millional Reign will not take you there for the 1000 years of peace, you have a chance to accept God

A man dies and goes to Hell. The devil takes the man to a door and tells him that he is to spend eternity in this room. Opening the door reveals a classroom and the man's childhood teacher, Sister Margaret.

The man is confused, as he can't believe that Sister Margaret could possibly belong in Hell and he professes this to the Devil.

The Devils says: "Funny thing is, this is Sister Margaret's idea of Heaven!"

Hell is in Michigan.

If you go back to the original languages there are 4 words that have been translated into the word hell. 2 simply mean the grave. 1 means a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem and the last simply means a dark place. None of them refer to anything even remotely similar to the belief of a fiery place of torment.

I believe that Hell is the realization that there IS a God, and being eternally separated from His Love and Grace.

There are 162 references to HELL in the New Testament alone, over 70 of those spoken by Jesus Himself.

" He that believes (the gospel) and is baptized SHALL BE SAVED; he that believes not SHALL BE DAMNED ". - Jesus

"So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth". - Jesus (Matt. 13:49)

Jesus called it a literal place of REAL torment.
