The parallel with Cambodia is very weak at best - it would be more like the US invading China during the Vietnam war.
As for any war being illegal:
To have a war declared illegal by the UN security council, the United States would have to not Veto the resolution, I don't think that is going to happen so any war is going to be legal in the minds of the US government.
Tricky point, isn't it.

by the way I enjoy Noam Chomsky - very clear and refreshing.

ok, ask any 9Th grade student of any western country about what is the next step after the US asks to see the nuclear program of a country.

there are only two options: either the us provides that country with the energy it needs to maintain its growth or the us sends the troops to stop the program.

please define illegal.
thanks for the links Adam, i was just being sarcastic, of course the war is illegal.
the point is that whoever is writing the book gives the definitions. right know is not illegal for the government. historians may decide otherwise, but we have not turned the page yet.
north corea is another example, during the clinton administration they received energy from the us, bush stopped that a few years ago and n.corea re-initiated their nuclear program, they were threaten, then they requested energy -they are signing this week a new deal in which they will receive all the energy they need -,
they already stopped the nuclear program.
happy ending.

Cambodia wasn't keeping Vietnam supplied with war materials.
Iran is keeping many supplied with war materials. The insurgents in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in the Palestinian authority, the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, are all being supplied by Iran and mostly for the purpose of defeating the US.

If we do nothing else before we withdraw our troops, it is to destroy Iran's war making capabilities, and to be prepared to neutralize any other country who dares defend Iran or otherwise attack the US.

When you say "another illegal war", you imply that there is one before it. I do hope that you do not mean the one in Iraq. Congressed authorized it, making it very legal. After all, there were 17 major violations of the cease-fire from the first Gulf War, any one of which would have been sufficient grounds for reopening the conflict.

How was Iraq illegal?? Technically they attacked us first by firing on a military installation (fighters enforcing the no fly zone).

And, an attack on a military installation by a govt. IS a declaration of war. Like it or not, facts are facts.

Ohhh. I see. Let's do it. Killing field, here we come. Nothing like a nice war to wake the region up. Might as well kick some ***.

No, it sounds like Iran is already waging war against us so why shouldn't we reciprocate in kind.

History does have a way of repeating itself. It seems like none of our politicians ever learn. Just the thought of an Iranian war is scary. I just hope that it doesn't.

As they say, 'follow the money'.

Also there is enough 'missing' firearms floating around over there that no one else needs to worry about funneling arms.
