ok,my best girl friends little sister is 16 and pregnant, but will be 17 when she has her child. she is not going to school because she has to be on bed rest due to bleeding and other complications, so she is still studying at home, and then is going to get her GED after her baby is born. she lives with her parents, and luckily for her, her parents are backing her up 100% until she can get on her own two feet and get a job.
but she called me crying tonight because shes scared child services will take her child away because shes not in school, i am pregnant myself but do not know about reasons why a child would be taken away from her..
so i was hoping other people would be able to help?

Unless there are extenuating circumstances for example, she is doing drugs openly and someone called them, or she beats children, or something like that... they cannot take her child based on her not going to school. If the parents are backing her, as you say they are, child services has not a leg to stand on. I'm sure if circumstances are as you say, and she was put on bed rest by her doctor... child services would look at the paperwork, turn around and walk out the door... empty handed.

No need for others to help her, she is in no danger of losing her child. Tell her to keep her chin up, and it will all work out. This is just her hormones working overtime from the pregnancy. Give her hugs.

First of all, what you and your friend are going through are a myriad of mixed emotions. Birth is such a celebration, but requires so much sacrifice.she might be frightened for so many reasons. Someone could be telling her lies. I was 19 when I had my first child. He is now 23 years old and the joy of my life (along with his other two brothers). Children are both a joy and the biggest pain (heart felt pain) you will ever experience. Nothing on this earth can prepare you for what you have in store. All I can say is: Prepare your mind, body and soul for what you are about to experience...it is a lifetime change. I wish you and her all the best. Be there for you baby always!! You are the only one they always have!!

She has a medical reason for being at home during the pregnancy, and she is going for her GED. She will get a job. Her parents are there to assure the baby is looked after.
No authority will ever remove a child under these circumstances. It has to be obvious neglect. The child welfare people are buried in abuse cases.

I would say that is her fears and four walls. She has a complete support system and a plan for her future. Sounds like someone is being very cruel and telling her things. She is in a very sensitive time in her life. Be a friend. If this continues find out who is telling her these bites of horror stories and figure out a way to keep them away if possible. She is in school, its called home school. She is fine. She can get on line for more information to help just in case. Good luck.

i found myself pregnant at 16 and doing my exams at the same time.that was 16 years ago and my daughter who is still with me is getting ready to do hers.i had 3 more children after that, and they are all in high school to,i raised them as a single parent for a few years and no one ever tried to take my children away.i think you would have to be a really bad parent for them to get involved.

noo they cant just cause shes not in skool isnt an excuse
they would only take the kid away if she was really an unfit mother
just think of it this way children with parents who are not working dnt get taking away.
