I want my table to look nice and I always love in magazines when tables are set with the pretty dishes and napkins and place mats... Is it silly to always have it set like that?

If you want to do it go for it. I used to when I had a dining room and it does look very nice. The one thing I would ask is do you have the time to keep the dishes clean? lol.

I used to do this too until the Northridge earthquake & my table literally exploded and every thing on it was smashed except 1 tea cup. I never was able to replace all those pretty things. BUT, life is way to short, as I learned in that experience, you just never know! So, and enjoy all your pretty things as much as you can!!! If it makes you smile & be happy go for it!

I don't think so; I do the same thing! Until I started doing it, the dining room table was a dumping ground for stuff that
someone didn't want to put away. Now I change it every
month.

Having a pretty table with flowers or nice china and dishes shows you have good taste and like to impress your visitors and company... Sounds lovely.

If you have a dining room and regular table, i'd just have the dining room table like that. Sometimes it looks nice, but make sure your whole house isn't a mess and your table look all nice.

I have a girlfriend who does this and it's a little overkill. The place settings just collect dust. It's also so busy. You can achieve this affect when you have a dinner party by setting a beautiful table but to have it set all the time is just a little much. Our homes aren't magazines. You can wow people when they come for dinner.
