say if someone insults you, says demeaning things....how would you deal with that?

Of course we get angry, because we are human, but it is what we do with that anger that matters. We do pray and ask God for strength to, as you put it, shake it off. When we fail, then we must ask God for forgiveness. If we get angry, but do nothing with it, then it leaves us sooner. Maybe I shouldn't say we, but just speak for my self. I don't usually get angry for myself, but for the disrespect that some people show my faith in God and belittle God. But then I remember that God is love and would not want me to be angry over what some people say or do on His behalf.

It sounds as though you are under the mistaken idea that it is wrong for Christians to feel anger.

Have you not read this biblical instruction to Christians?:
Ephesians 4:26 -- "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath

When Jesus taught that we should "turn the other cheek," he wasn't saying that we should ignore an insult, but rather that we should use every effort to make peace. And then. on top of that, we must trust in God to take vengeance on our enemies.

As a human I tend to get angry and want to lash out, strike or beat the offender. But as a christian I pray and then calm down and remember that vengeance is GODS and not mine.

That is really how I get by. Praying and asking GOD for guidance each and every day.

It's normal to be upset when someone deliberately insults you. How you react is completely up to you. But you need to remember that how you react is going to reflect your Christianity.

We are to be the salt and the light in our world. If we act the same as everyone else in society, then how would you lead others to Christ? I try to make a conscience effort to pray for the person who insults me.

My first reaction, is not praying. It just happened today, and it was loud. But, after I calm down, I mediate and pray.

Well, I am human, not a Saint.
