This afternoon we received a call from a viewer who said a business near downtown Reno was flying a Mexican flag above an American flag... which is in fact illegal.

This, after photos and comments about the flag were posted on Craigslist this morning. When we were able to have a photographer go and check everything out we found the story to be true.

It also didn t take long before the situation provoked a strong reaction. We are now going to show you , unedited, what happened. Click on the video to see what happened.

Pro USA is absoulutely right!!! THat is so messed up!! I'm very outraged by it. The owner put the Mexican flag up above the American because he wanted to show support for the Mexicans?! HE IS LIVING IN AMERICA!!! NOT MEXICO!! You want to fly the Mexican flag then go back to Mexico. That vet fought for OUR country NOT Mexico. You should expose this video to everyone!!! I put it right up there with terrorist. Proof that a lot of Mexicans have no respect for this country what so ever. I hope that guy is recieving a lot of hell right now. Keep playing that video!!! I'm so outraged by it.. it would never happen in another country. We need to get these people out of here and fast. Totally disrepectful to our country..past and present. My ancestors did not die or fight to see a Mexican flag fly above the American.!! I will die and fight myself to make sure it doesn't happen!!!

According to military tradition, it is my understanding that an upside-down flag was raised to signal that help was desperately needed and reinforcements should be sent. That would suggest that whoever did this was doing a protest that was saying that the Mexicans were invading and taking over (the reason that the Mexican flag was above the American one, to show being taken over), and that the upside down flag was a way of saying this country was in desperate need of help to stop the invasion. And whoever did it can say whatever they want, no matter how stupid it is. Consider that white people make up 68% of this country's population; and ALL Hispanics together (legal and illegal Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Cubans, etc., etc., etc.) only added up to 16% of the total population (meaning the TOTAL Hispanic population is only 23% the size of the white population) . Clearly the illegal immigration problem is not nearly as bad as these guys tried to make it out to be. All Hispanics added together, no matter their country of origin or the legality status, are less than 1/4 of the size of the white population. And if they have a problem with it, then why don't they mow their own lawns? add-on: Fellas, I don't think you know who did this. It was not the Mexicans. It was an anti-immigration protest, not a pro-Mexican protest. add-on: Wow, I did not realize that there were this many white people who needed to be schooled on their own history by a Mexican like myself. That's kind of sad, really. Especially from those that are part of a party that insists they love the military.

I think it was disrespectful and it violates not only U.S. law but international law. The law says that when you are flying two countries' flags you gotta fly them side by side at the same height or almost the same height. By flying the Mexican flag above the U.S. flag it's like saying Mexico defeated the United States in a war. No wonder this guy was so angry and upset. I'm a Latino myself and I would never fly my country of origin's flag above the U.S. flag. It's wrong. Not that any country's people are better than the other's but it's simply wrong and disrespectful.

New link to the video.

This veteran is to be commended.
The cowardly silence of the man from the store speaks loudly for the mindset of Mexico....do wrongfully as you please..then scurry and run when challenged by what is right. Or perhaps his silence meant he hadn't yet thought of a way to excuse his illegal display of the flags. Perhaps he went in to call the nearest Mexican Consulate...press 1 for excuse to justify illegality..press 2 for assistance in evading deportation..press 3 for fake identity papers.

As a Veteran myself, I would have wanted to burn the other flag.

While arguably a crime was committed, tragically it has come to extreme measures to get the point across. Will that be the only language the other side hears?

I honestly hope this crisis does not come to bloodshed. While I am willing to accept that the people who cross the border unlawfully mostly want a better life . . .

I would never support any form of amnesty, but I do not want otherwise non-criminal people to be hurt.

As a group, they are not helping themselves. Their openly hostile marches and demands for "their rights" could soon generate the worst form of blowback against them.

Who is willing to be sympathetic when they witness on television seas of Mexican flags and angry chants that they will have their way and do not have to show any respect for our system?

Claims that they are taking back "Stolen territory" do not hold up compared to historical records. It only works on the uninformed.

I genuinely fear there will be violence at some point. I do not want that to happen, but it is out of our hands, all in theirs.

A piece of me was there with that vet, so many times I wish I would have taken action. Legal Americans feel they have to take matters into their own hands. Our local policeman can not protect us from illegal immigrants. Our government can not protect us from illegal immigrants. You all know this government has no idea who is in this country. Our government can not protect us from terrorists.
Middle class America feels little support and their influence in government has dwindled. Big money business now controls this country and the sovereignty of this nation is the last thing on their minds.

This is the first time I have seen the video, its obvious that the Vet was outraged he was shaking. It was disrespectful not to mention illegal, if the business owner does decide to press charges you will see Veterans groups from across the country descend on Reno to stand up for this Vet.

If I had been there, and saw that, I would have climbed the outer walls of the building and ripped the Mexican flag down, and then burnt it!

All true Americans need to follow his lead if they see something like that.

It is against the law, but it took an American Patriot to take action.
If the police won't take action we have to.
That guy truly took his oath and love for America seriously and knows, a discharge only take you out of the military, it does not make your oath end.

The oath to defend this country from all enemies foreign and domestic hits hard when you take it.

He is a hero who never forgot that feeling.
