First things first, before I go to basic I will be 3 classes away from receiving my B.B.A in accounting and financing.
I was told to wait until I graduated before I signed the contract, because if I had my bachelor's I would go straight to OCS after basic training. I talked to my recruiter and he said that this is not true, you have to appointed to go to OCS, that just because the person has a bachelor's it does not mean they will go to OCS.
Now the question, I will finish my degree after "A" school, but will that degree help me get appointed to OCS?
When my contract is up, if I reenlist will the prior service and the bachelor's degree, hopeffully the MBA by then, help me get into OCS?
Last question, I am 26 y.o. as of now. Is there a cut-off age to become an officer/go to OCS?

The reason why I did so, is because as of now I am not a US citizen, I am a permanent resident, either way I would not be able to go to OCS

Having run Navy recruiting for the last 5 years and now retired, I'm eligible to tell you like it is. First, having a degree does not guarantee you anything. My recruiters put in people with 4 year degrees as E-3's. If you wanted to go officer, you have to choose a prgram and test for it. If you pass all the testing, academic and medical, then you might get an appointment. It all depends. If you go in enlisted, finish your degree as fast as you can after RTC. Then immediately start applying for commissioning programs. You career counselor can help you with this. It is much easier to get a commission from within than to try from the outside. Make sure you pick a job you like and make sure you are getting credit for your time in college. There are about 17 commissioning programs you can apply for as an enlisted member. Set up with your college to finish your degree online. This will help you. If you are offered an opportunity for a commission, you do not have to take it. It's your choice. Good luck.

You have to apply for OCS.
Your records are reviewed and you go before a Board of Officers.
They then vote on whether to accept your application to OCS.
It is not automatic.
Alot will depend on the degree you have, the needs of the navy at the time and your gpa along with any other records.
You have to be 28 years or less you be commissioned, but any time served as enlisted, is added to that 28 years.
Also, they can issue a waiver for age.
There are no black and white answers when it comes to OCS.
OCS is used to fill the needs of the service, after the Academy grads and NROTC grads.
Active duty enlisted, do have an easier chance to get into OCS than civilians do.

Having a degree doesn't guarantee anything. OCS slots are competitive. They will look at things like GPA, Degree type, and pretty much what you have done with your life up to this point. He's being truthful. My question to you is why would wait until you were 3 classes away to enlist? it doesn't make sense to me. Yes there is cut-off ages it usually is 29

Thank you for serving son, but why when you are so close to graduating would you go to basic training?!!!!!!!! Why?
Finish up and pick up a basic ROTC class.
get help from the ROTC people in your school.
sounds a lot like wrongful enlistment to me
I'd love to know the name of your recruiter.
In the mean time, I would contact the JAG office nearest you.
Recruiters have quotes to fill and are sometimes lying, stinking, rats who don't care whos career they wreak. They see a warm body and plug it in the spot. Your asvab is probably very high so you can be put in the more difficult enlisted positions. I hope to hell you did not ask for a tough a school like nuke school. If you did get to the jag .
If they pay all that money for further schooling your chances of getting out and going to ocs diminish. Get a jag .

just having a degree is NOT a Gty to get into OCS. In fact, your degree is not competitive for OCS unless you wanted to go into Supply. additionally,. one does NOT go from Boot Camp to OCS. you either do one or the other. well, my husband did both, but there was a 4 year gap in between cuz it took that long for him to get picked up for OCS.
one does not re enlist to go to OCS, one is offered a commission. two totally different things.
at 26 you are pushing the limit for a Regular Commissioning. at 28, you are disqualified from Unrestricted Line and would be limited to Staff( Supply) or Restricted Line( Intel, IWO)
HOWEVER, you can apply to either the Warrant Officer or Limited Duty Officer programs as soon as you reach the proper paygrade( E6 for LDO and E7 for Warrant). Your college credits will grant you E3 upon enlistment from the get go. Warrants and LDOs stay within the community/rating they were enlisted as. RL/Staff Officers can come from all ratings. Mine was an FC, but is now an IWO, for instance.

If you're talking about the Army, the current age limit is 42 (http://www.neilrogers.com/news/articles/2005061005.html ). You cannot apply for OCS until you have your degree. You do not automatically go to OCS because you have a degree. Your choices are to complete your degree and then apply for OCS, or to enlist, complete your degree while serving, then apply for OCS.
