I didn't see this last night but for future reference, the capsicum inthe japaleno reacts badly to our bodies causing it to burn. The best known fixative for it is milk products. The protein and lactose act as a destabilizer for the capsicum in the pepper and renders it useless. Next time you cut peppers, dip your hands in a bowl of milk, sour cream or yogurt to deactivate before you wash. If you happen to get it onyour face grab a cotton ball and give yourself a good wash down and then rinse (your skin will thank you by being soft). Water reactivates the capsicum which is why they tell people who have been pepper sprayed not to wet their face for 24-36 hours or the burning will be reactivated. I don't advise the alcohol as that will only open your pores and send the burn deeper.

Blew my nose after touching jalapeno seeds and the burn was unbelievable. I stuck a tissue into sour cream and it almost instantly stopped the burn. Put in the nostrils and on top of and around your nose. Seems extreme, but my nose stopped burning!

I would advise you to use gloves next time and keep your hands out of your face.
i don't have a remedy for the burn.
I cut some jalapenos before and didn't wear gloves. My hands burned for about a week and a half. I had know remedy but you might call you doctor and ask them.

you can inhale the milk! Just warm it up and inhale the steam! I did the same thing as you and ended up with a burning nose, I came across your question and saw your comment about inhaling milk and got the idea to heat it! Works like a charm!

Been there, done that.
DON'T USE WATER!
Use milk, yogurt, sour cream to get rid of the burning sensation. Then I use vinegar to rinse. No more burn.

Not sure there is a good answer to this. It is an oil that is on your skin, could try rubbing alcohol. Maybe rubbing a bit corn starch on it could do something. Good luck and let us know what helps!
