It is raised up maybe a 1/4 of an inch. Its not red or oozing, just stiff and she is not acting like she is in pain. I just want to be sure it is not infected.

It's probably just scar tissue, which is normal. If you're really concerned, give your vet a call & hopefully he/she can make you feel more at ease.

That's normal. It takes a few weeks to go smooth with the rest of the skin, and you'll still be able to feel a stiffness under it for maybe 2 months. Then it'll work its way back to being just normal skin. Remember they put different layers of stitches inside, each one has to heal.

Don't worry, there won't be any indication by the end of 2 months, no matter how you feel for it with your fingers later on.

Yes, it's just like a person. There's fluid and tissue around the incision.. Remember, the incision isn't just the first layer of skin, they cut through many layers of skin and muscle and it all takes time for the swelling to go down and fluids to disperse. If it's not all red and irritated or draining you shouldn't have to worry.

It sounds fine, especially if it's not red and she's not in pain. I would not worry about it unless it becomes red or painful, or if she chews out her stitches or staples (if she has them), or if she stops eating/drinking or develops diarrhea or vomits...enough to worry about?!

Good luck and good job for having her spayed!

Unless the sight is reddish and really swollen, I wouldn't worry about it. Call your Vet and tell them what is going on. They should check her out for free.

Has she been licking it? Did your vet give you antibiotics for her to take?Ask your vets office, you paid for their service. There are collars for cats to wear so they don't lick.
