It's not a religion, it's anti-religion. It is simply a belief in no gods. That's the only criteria for being an atheist. All other beliefs are up to the individual. With no gods, there's no worship....therefore no religion. You can call it one for all I care. It's not like what you say matters and I could care less what you call it. Calling it a religion doesn't make it a religion. Leave it to Christians to have to have everything be a religion.

If you think that humanism and atheism is the same thing, I will have to say yes, because in their own writings, The Humanist Manefesto 1, it calls itself a religion.

If you look at the definition of atheism, and look up the definition of religion, You will see that they are NOT the same. So NO, I do not agree.

No. A religion requires a deity, something atheism (by it's very nature) lacks.

Anthropologically, a religion must have two things:
1. A myth, a story (true or not) which interrelates, man, the world, and the ultimate existence (be it a deity or just the universe itself).
2. A code of ethics, usually based on the myth.
Would you identify the myth and code of ethics that all atheists share in common?
Hint: There isn't one. The only thing that all atheists have in common is this -- there is no deity.

No, I disagree.
Religions require faith. How much faith does it take to NOT believe in a god?
If you have trouble answering that one, try this:
How much faith do you have to NOT believe in the invisible pink unicorn that rules the universe from my garage?
Hence, atheism is not a religion. It is a lack of religion.

Not even slightly. Atheism has no god belief, no dogma, no "church," no "leaders." Atheism is simply a lack of belief in a god or gods. Or, as in my case, the belief that gods were created by ignorant humans.
