I have experienced something similar. I believe it is called an AURA. It is a symptom of an oncoming migraine headache. If I see that I relax and it goes away so I have never had a classic migraine headache.

I was worried enough to see an ophthalmologist and that is what he identified it as.

It sounds to me like you have astigmatism and this could be an even bigger problem when you get your driver's license because light issues are hard to see through when you're driving at night. Trust me, I had pretty good vision too and my astigmatism totally screws up my night vision, and even sometimes during the day. I get sparkly starbursts off of bright lights, halos around street lights, glare from certain things. It's a pain in the butt. You probably need correction for the astigmatism. I have contacts now and it's a bit better.

I get them occasionally, but usually I get a real painful headache following, but sometimes, just the jacked up vision....

those are symptoms of a migraine...there's not always pain associated with the migraine...if light bothers you too much, you should try wearing lightly colored glasses and see if those help...if they do, you have your answer...if they don't, you will need to get your eyes checked by another doctor so you can get the prescription glasses you need to fix that...losing your eye sight wouldn't be fun...

You need to see an ophtalmologist. (Eye Doctor/Specialist). They are the ones specializing in eye problems. Tell your parents ASAP... could be a sign of something worse or a little thing..
