Theres a good possibility that this is ear mites. The best treatment for ear mites is a product called Ivermectin. you'll want to buy the injectable, however, it can be given to your rabbit orally. You can buy it at Tractor Supply, or other livestock type stores. If you can't find it you can purchase it online from Jeffers Livestock Supply.

You will treat the rabbit, and then repeat again at three weeks to get any new mites that hatched since the first treatment. It is not advisable to try to "clean" the ear.

Good luck in solving this problem.

Take him to the vet, now. It could be a tumor of some sort by the way you described it, although it could also be some other type of growth. If it's bleeding, that's a bad sign. Rabbits are traumatized easily, and they tend to hide pain which isn't to helpful on our part. If he's not eating and acting a bit different, that's how you can most likely tell he's in pain. Take him now or ASAP.

EDIT: I found a picture of a tumor on a rabbit's ear. Look at it with a flashlight, and if it looks like this--http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9iby6DB8AJHGLoAuWCjzbkF/SIG=131eo96mc/EXP=1191461441/**http%3A//www.musc.edu/orthores/%2520Images%2520Labs%2520Models/EmboliEarVX2.jpg --then it probably is and needs medical attention.

See my answer to the question below regarding how to treat ear mites. The home remedy I recommend may sound a little off the wall, but it works and I've seen a number of rabbit breeders use the remedy with no problems whatsoever.
