Your belly button healed years ago when you were an infant. You can't put your finger in very far. Did you expect it to still be the umbilical cord it was when you were still inside your mother's womb?
As so many folks have mentioned, the most you will get is a lot of belly button lint and a bad smell.

Really, the navel is just a part of your skin. Pushing into it does nothing but irritate the skin. You need to clean the area when you shower anyway for proper hygiene.

You either pull out a smelly finger and lint that's been in there since you were 9, or you get caught and you pull yourself inside-out.

I know someone who picked at it and it started bleeding...he said it hurt in a weird way
