I have been dating a guy for what will be a year in November. Everything has been going real well. On September 18th he just disappeared, didn't call, didn't return my calls and then out of the blue on the morning of October 1st he re-appeared with a text message saying "Good morning! Have a great day!"

What do you suppose would initiate those actions and what could possibly be going on in his mind??

Personally I wouldn't be concerned. Once someone did this to me it would be a short and instant trip to dumpsville.

What kind of self obsessed and selfish moron would just vanish in the middle of September without any kind of warning, and then resurface a couple of weeks later acting like nothing had happened.

Unless he can prove conclusively that he was abducted by aliens and taken to a planet with no inter planetary phone system, then I'd just simply dump him and move on. Because other than an alien abduction (or maybe a kidnapping), there is no excuse whatsoever for this kind of behavior. It reeks of a person who doesn't think of anyone but themselves. A selfish and thoughtless guy that simply doesn't deserve a second chance.

Ask him. Confront him.
It sounds like the two of you are having communications issues, despite a year of dating.
That is not a good sign.
Communications...emotional intimacy...is the heart and soul of a relationship. If you don't have a good ground after a year, I would say it's not going to happen.
Figure it out or move on.

tons of things... he could be in a secret society or have a secret job, cheated, binged on drugs or alcohol or something.... Or he could have just needed a week to play halo or w/e game may have come out or got addicted to World of Warcraft. I'd ask em. That's like 2 weeks... kinda wierd... I'd never see myself doing that... but if I did disappear like that... I'd probably do one of the above... not cheating or drugs.... but people do wierd stuff... Sorry I can't give a definate answer..

edit: he's probably a douche if you want to keep em around, that's up to you... but keep your guard up and try to detatch yourself.

I am a woman, whose male friends outnumber her female friends 10:1.

He wanted a BREAK, and just didn't know ow to tell you.

Play it cool, if you want to be his friend, but... he doesn't want any more from you, o.k.? Don't take it personally, he just got too comfortable, and got in too deep, and then panicked, or, took up with someone else, to give himself a breather.
And, no, he doesn't want to start over, resume, or explain. -They're wired differently.

If you can be cool with that, that's great, but if you can't, don't lie to yourself, or him about it, just leave him alone. That will do you and him a great favor. -And, you seem nice, I'll apologize for him that he didn't know how to treat you better, o.k.?

Now, don't invest any more there, it won't be returned.

Yep! he found someone else... She possibly dumped him also, which is why he's coming around. be ready for the "I was abducted by aliens..." Or, "I just needed time alone to sort my life out." excuses. I don't mean to give away secrets but those are the most typical.

Granted, the 'Alien' excuse is used only by rednecks.

Could be a number of things; the first thing that comes to mind is that he's irresponsible and doesn't care enough about you to call.

The obvious answer to me is Just ask him. Evaluate the believability of his answer then decide a course of action.

WOW, that is really strange. I would seriously start thinking about getting rid of that guy. He could be cheating or worse be a murder or somthing (you never know).
