Yes, but the yanks would refuse to learn it, first for arrogance. They say that it is the language of the immigrants, the non whites, those subhumans from down the border, etc, etc.
Seconds, most yanks do not speak their own language correctly, we cannot expect them to have the necessary ability to learn a complicated language like Spanish

No we haven't any authentic language and no authentic faith and we will have to preserve it that means. This nation has steady inside disorders and exchanging whatever like that could have folks in an uproar. Spanish is a enormous aspect of the United States however so is each different language and to unmarried one out as dominant makes no sense.

Maybe but most Americans don't speak that language and if they were to learn it, they would sound horrible. Spanish is not that easy a language to pronounce correctly, especailly with the "r's". A lot of people have problems with the "v's" as well. Besides, whose version would be taught? The Spanish as spoken in Spain sounds very different from the variations spoken in Latin America. Many people consider that form to be the only correct one of that language.

If this happened I would refuse to learn it out of rebellion.
English is the unofficial national language. If you do not like it, you can always move back to your home country, where Spanish is the official language.
I find it incredibly arrogant for you to come to my country and demand that I speak Spanish to you. What if I went to Mexico and demanded that people in Mexico must speak English to me. I would be lucky to get out of Mexico alive. Just keep that in mind Americans are a little more lenient in that department. Your making an a** out of yourself and your country.
When you visit or move to another country you are an ambassador whether you like it or not. The locals will judge your country by your actions.
To Der Schreckliche we Americans speak English the way it has evolved after being separated from it's home country for centuries. Spanish is a incredibly simple language to learn for Americans instead of German which is closer to English than Spanish. Both English and German are incredibly complex languages. Also I know what your name means why should I listen to anything you have to say.
Ask the Swiss who speak German a little different than in Germany. The gap between Swiss German and the German spoken in Germany is pretty far compared to British English and American English.
And the country which butchers the English language the most belongs to Australia not the United States.

No, the official language has to remain English. For one thing, English is much more widely spoken than Spanish, even if it is harder to learn. Money is not being wasted perpetuating English in any way, shape or form. That notion is quite silly if you ask me, we all know that Spanish will never be the official language of this country.

you actually do have a very good point there, but english was our first language, and spanish like other languages such as german or latin are much easier. BUT English was the language brought to this country and the immigrants that moved here learned english. But i think everyone in america should know english, spanish, and one other language (just my opinion).

NO.
English actually is not that hard - especially when you live in a country where you're surrounded with it day-by-day, and where its economic stand in the world should motivate one to obtain a good command of it.
If people in the US cannot even form good sentences, all that means is that it is time to turn off American Idol (actually, for what it's worth, tossing the entire damn TV set wouldn't be a bad idea), turn off 50 Cent and Kanye West on the radio, and maybe spending a few Friday nights away from the club to improve your grammar.

You have a case here that is good for discussion. There are many who do speak Spanish as their native language. But, also there are many that their native languages are German, Irish, Polish, French and many more. Because of all other languages existing in the United States, no one language can not be as the official language. All the languages of the world could be the official languages of the United States, but since the majority speak English, then English it is. I would like to see all other languages as the official languages. It is a nice way to say to all tourists welcome.

Simple.
1) It was chosen by the founding fathers as the official language of the USA. You switch us to Spanish and watch our dollar sink further below the Canadian Looney. We'll be Canada's Mexico then.
2) English is the official language of communication for ships at sea.
3) English is the official language of communication for pilots.
4) Most of the countries we Americans are closest to have English as the official language.
5) Most of the world's other superpowers who's official language is NOT English REQUIRE English to be learned in school.
You trying to cripple us or something because you're too lazy with grammar?

So we should change to an easier language to save a few bucks? English is the American language. I have nothing against Spanish but i wouldn't change our official language based on it being Easier and cheaper. My county just re-recognized English as the official language and squashed legislation to put up road signs in both languages. Hoorah!
