i was customizing my toolbars today and was using a crappy mouse. i dragged the AutoFilter from the Data menu onto my toolbar, right-clicked it to change the name and when i left-clicked the text (to change it), it, like, pulled it off the toolbar and it just disappeared. i have tried looking in the help menu. this happened to me once before (with the AutoFilter no less) and i figured it out. this time i'm stuck. PLEASE HELP!!!

Right click on TOOLS at top bar section at top of your Excel page right click on it and select the "Customize"

Then new dialog box will open keep that open and click on the menu item "Data" then right click on the sub--item "Filter"

After right click on "Filter" you will get another popup. Choose "reset" from the popup and then you will be able to get the normal autofilter that you used before

Hope this helps. :)

From the menu bar click Tools > Customize

In the Customize dialog window select the Command tab. Then Select Data from the Categories list. Then from the Commands list select AutoFilter and drag it to the toolbar or menu that you want it in and it will add it.

After you've added it. If you want to rename it, right click it then enter the name in the name box. The "&" goes before whatever letter you want Excel to use to jump to the command using the keyboard. You'll notice those letters underlined on the menus.

Once you close the Customize dialog window the settings are saved and the toolbar will look like that every time you open Excel.

This might depend on the year-version of Excel you have. If the previous answer doesn't work for you try the following.
Tools/customize/ then click the Commands tab and Data. From the list on the right choose Auto Filter and drag it up to where you want on your toolbar.
