Hopefully nobody! I wish all jails were this bad. The easy answer is don't break the law, and you don't have to worry about it. Jail after all is supposed to be (as I see it anyways), a place where life was so bad, nobody would ever want to return.

what you are saying about the jail being nast is a lie. the inmates are given cleanning supplies 3 times a day.out side in the halls they are mopped and swept 3 times a day.you even stated that you were just told this and you have no first hand information.knowone has ever slept is a box toilet because there is no such thing.the shower is not out in the open. the shower has a drape hanging for privacy.yes there have been spider bites but it is very rare.the cleaning is up to the inmates. if they are too lazy to do the cleaning there is nothing the officers can do. officer will repeatedly ask them to clean and they seldom do. when every meal is given to them a mop bucket, mop, broom, and cleaning supplies are given out
so next time you want to make a complaint try telling the truth because you were caught lying this time.

Contact the State Jail commission in Austin. Their minimum standards people can investigate any complaints. In some states the Grand jury can tour the jail for minimum standards, about health cleanliness, etc. If that's the case, you could go through the courts/ judges to access them. The county commissioners are responsible for providing proper funding and over site of the county facilities.(Any of these responsible governing bodies can be sued for any damages connected with improper treatment of unhealthy facilities. A letter or personal contact with them could get the ball rolling. If he receives personal injuries, etc. You can file charges. ( Your husband needs to keep a record of everything that happens (dates, times, witnesses... so some proof will be available if charges and accusations are made. It will probably be a slow process; but it does need to be addressed. Stick with it even if and when your husband is released.

People are human and should be treated so no matter what they did to go to jail.
The unfortunate part is that many jails are like this now do to less funding and more prisoners and overcrowding. The tax payers have decided enough is enough, no more money for these facilities.
The more money that is allocated the more prisons they build and the more they have to keep them full and so they make stiffer laws to lock us all up. Yes, anyone can be locked up.
I can throw so many examples of ways you can land in jail or prison for minor things.
We must stop our country and states becoming police states and just stop funding them.
And if the people who run these prisons were no so corupt they would have enough money to keep them clean and in good working order.
The best thing you can do is call your local politiicans. Your state representatives, commisioners, senators, assembly, and congressment. Start with your state. Your can get their email addresses online, google your state and then the position.
Write them and tell them you and your family are tax payers and you vote and that you are appalled at the condition of the jail. Be firm and professional.
If this gets you no where, you can always go to your local television channels and tell them you have a good story.
They will jump on something like this right now. They can build a story on the condition of the jail and would be happy to do so. Tell your Police Department if they don't get him out of there you will tell the story to the press.
You must sound convincing and firm.
If you care for you husband do it now. No one deserves this treatment.

It's JAIL not a five star hotel. If he doesn't want to be in jail, maybe he shouldn't have done the crime. Better yet, maybe he won't do anything illegal again. If you want nice prisons, then maybe YOUR FAMILY should pay for his stay so it can be better living conditions. Sorry, I have no sympathy.
