Have you done any baby sitting? Taken a baby sitting course thru your local Y ? Try that route. Start with someone in your neighborhood, offer to sit with their toddler for an hour or so during the day time. Work your way up to nighttime sitting. Make up a small flyer and put in between doors in your neighborhood or nearby where you know they have young kids. Always ask mom and dad 1st before you accept a job, and never sit for anyone outside your own area. At least not til you are in high school. Guess what? You are in business. Childcare is a responsibility. You initial outlay is nil, and you have much to gain from your experiences.

You can create your own gig doing a number of things.

I know kids that created their own gigs by doing something as simple as charging a flat fee for picking up the doggy-poo from people's yards twice a week... 10 houses at $6 to $10 a week can be good money.
You can supplement that by walking dogs.
What about raking leaves?
What else is there a need for in your area? Get creative.

The trick is to get your chores at home done, and keep your studies/grades up so you don't get in trouble.

If they said youd never stick with it then youve got bigger problems. You can make money online doing surveys. You could fo babysitting which is a business. Ive found alot of people get jealous of businesses cause they know its better and they feel foolish working 9-5 so dont mention your ideas to family. I never do.
