What if there's a Christian who lead a completely sinful life, what would happen to him after death? As opposed to a Christian free of sins?

Do both have to go to Purgatory?

Why must a Christian confess if he knows he'll go to heaven?

There's no such thing as purgatory. The only way you will get into heaven is by asking Jesus into your heart. God does not punish anybody, this is the New Testament. I could kill a million people and ask for God's forgiveness and He would frogive and forget all of my sins. He wouldn't beat me over my head for doing wrong. How could you trust a God like that?

Will you receive Jesus Christ right now?
Here is how you can receive Christ:
1. Admit your need (I am a sinner.)
2. Change your attitude that you can save yourself. Change your attitude to the fact that only Christ can save you by what He did on the cross (Repent...means a change of mind or attitude)
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you and rose from the grave.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior)

Since the Bible reveals that "the dead know not any thing" (Ecclesiastes 9:5), there can be no punishment after death. Death is the reward of the wicked. Life goes only to the righteous.

But who is righteous and who is wicked has not been determined by the time of death for most people. That is why there will be a resurrection to judgment (John 5:29, NASB). After which they will either be entered into the Book of Life or thrown into the Lake of Fire, eternal life or eternal death; not eternal punishment in Hell, Purgatory or anywhere else.

Think of it in this context: It is how close you have become to God that determines your spiritual place
If you do not denounce God, but have tried your hardest to obey him and fallen to temptation before, you will spend atleast some time in Purgatory to prepare you for Heaven. Almost everyone who has been on the path to God spends some time in Purgatory. It is like if you have had a friend and your relation has faltered at times. You never left them or denounced them as your friend for good. And after a arguement or fight, you have never been the bestest of friends immediately. Likewise, it is not just "Heaven or Hell". You will not go straight to Heaven. Purgatory prepares you and mends your relation with God. You go to Hell when you do not want to be God's friend at ALL and completely denounce him.

We have Jobs to do down here to Help Others.
(Salvation, Healings, Prayers etc.)
Confessing out our Sins keeps us Up to Date so that GOD can Flow Through Us to Help Others!
The Spiritual Realm is Strange to us when we don't know much about it.

Confessing out our Sins keeps the Door Open so our Prayers can get Answered Quickly too!, for Others.

Also, it helps US to Recieve from GOD Better.

There is a Robe of Salvation and a Robe of Righteousness.

You get the Robe of Salvation when you are Saved (Spirit Recreated).
If you Live Close to GOD you get the Robe of Righteousness.
When you get to Planet Heaven you can go Right on into the Throne Room of GOD if you have the Robe of Righteousness.
If just the Robe of Salvation it will take some time to make it to the Throne Room (gotta' get Strong in the Spirit) but you Will Make it!

GOD is MercyFull.

No one is free of sin, including Christians. But we also acknowledge our sins before God, repent of them, and ask for forgiveness from Him.

if someone is unrepentant he goes to hell. the christian without sin, who might this be? we all sin. Only one who lived their live in the holiness required to go straight to heaven is a saint, for instance mother theresa, and padre pio. if a christain has confessed his sins and been absolved, he goes to purgatory to expiate his sins, because the bible says Nothing defiled shall enter heaven. thats why we have purgatory, thank God for purgatory!!

There is a difference between "Sin" and "Sins". Sin is something that is in all people due to the fall of Adam. "Sins" are acts. It isnt a matter of having a clean record at the end of times, it is a matter of knowing Christ and having a healthy relationship with Him. You need to know Him, not just obey the "rules"

There is no such thing as purgatory. You're thinking of the unsaved catholic cult. There is no purgatory in existence, and none in the Bible. After you die, you are either in heaven or hell. Heaven, if you believed that Jesus died for your sins on the cross and rose again (and didn't add works of your own to be saved), or hell if you rejected this to your dying breath.

There's no such thing as purgatory.

If a person has a lifestyle of sin, he is not a Christian. You must repent of your sins and follow Jesus.

The Bible says to confess your sins to God. Confess and repent.

Hell. We are judged on the righteousness of our words, deeds, and heart. Only if we are righteous will we ever see heaven.
You don't have to confess you'll go to heaven, you have to confess your sins, and repent. Please see 1 John Chapter 1.
