The ASVAB is offered to all high school and college students.
It is not job specific, more like a general test covering several subject from mechanical, electronics to clerical skills. The scores from her test will be used to evaluate what type of jobs she may qualify for in a military service.

It is not written in stone that if you score exceptionally well in one area, that you will be placed in that type of job. It is like an overall view of her skills. If she does express an interest in enlisting the scores will be used as a placement guide for her MOS.

One person mentioned that once you take the test, recruiters will start calling and mailing you stuff trying to get you to join. This is very true, but you can also tell them when they do call, to leave you alone, or simply say that you have decided to go to college or have a career plan already. They will usually get the point after a few times. The ASVAB is just a tool used to determine who gets or qualifies for what jobs in the military.

ASVAB is a military placement test.

This test tells the military what kind of soldier you will be and whether you will be a good one and what jobs you will be good at. The military does not want those that are totally uneducated and can not learn quickly. The want motivated, bright, mentally stable recruits.

There is no reason for her to take this test and it will not help her on a career out of the military. And the worst part is once she takes this test she is on the recruitment list for a long time. They can call her anytime and hastle her to go into the military. They are salesmen and hard to get rid of.

The ASVAB is used for the armed services. However most schools offer the ASVAB to everyone, and it does show what civilian jobs she'd be good at.
Example, if she scores high in say EL. Which is electrical knowledge, then she'll do well with electronics, in a civilian or military career.

Since you may have the identical GT ranking as I did. You will have to observe for Warrant Officer Flight Training. I anticipate you're a well scan taker and so long as you'll cross the Army flight scan (AFAST) which traditionally someone can. You is also in a position to end up a pilot within the US Army as Warrant Officer with no need to visit school.
