We recently have seen one of our dogs leg is likely broken or at least sprained. When she is walking, she is limping and her foot is dangling and in the air. We need are wondering if there are any treatments we can use first with out professional help first as we are low on money. Please help.

She is a Sitzu (sp?) and Maltese mix

Is your skull that thick?

Perhaps you should take the advice from when you asked this just 5 minutes ago and...

TAKE IT TO THE VET.

You are being a horrendous owner, and that dog should be confiscated from you IMMEDIATELY

If the dog is weight baring at all it likely is not broken.
If it is not broken it cound be a ruptured cruciate which is painful and needs medical attention.
You should confine the dog to a small room or crate so she can rest.
Over the counter medication is not wise because it is unsafe to administer anti inflammatories without precautionary bloodwork. Never give anything over the counter or you could be causing a life threatening event.

I urge you to bite the bullet and take you pet to the vet.

If you had a child with a broken limb would you wait to go to the doctor!?! OMG if you do not take that animal to the vet NOW it is cruel, inhuman and it should be taken away from you. Get your head out and talk to your vet about payment options.

I know this is going to sound cruel but this kind of crap makes me crazy. If you can't afford to own a pet and all the responsibilities it requires you shouldn't own one.

This dog needs a vet...and it needs a vet NOW. Stop screwing around and being cruel to this animal. And when it's done healing, do the RIGHT thing and find it a home with some one who can afford to care for it properly.

your dogs leg is broke you have no option other than taking it to the vet before it starts healing and has to be re-broken-- they will work out a payment plan and if they wont, find a new vet

At 5 years old, your son can benefit greatly from some psychiatric counseling. He is quite old enough to know that abusing a puppy is going to hurt it. So, this isn't something to be swept under the rug. Unfortunately, I think the puppy has to go. It is not fair to allow it to be continually abused. Monday morning you should be at your doctor's office demanding that the doctor helps your son with some sort of treatment. In the meantime, all you can do is a keep an eye out. Good luck!

what is more important. having a healthy happy dog or saving a few bucks. most vets will put u on a payment plan if u cant pay for the treatment up front. but i guarantee that if u dont get help for the dog soon u could get an animal cruelty charge or a neglect charge. and i promise, that is a lot more expensive than getting help for ur dog

Take the dog to the vet. If you are unwilling to provide medical care for a family member find a GOOD home for her.

There's not much you can do before you take it to the vet so I suggest taking it to the vets first.

Hi I'm 'Hanah' My dog had the same problem we thought it was the same thing but when i took her to the vet we found out it wasn't broken nor sprained or anything elts like that we checked her for all disease...nothing... so when i went home i looked up lameness in dogs (lameness is what you call a dog when they are limping or can't use there leg) we looked it up and it said it could be caused by many things. it could be neurological (in the brain) he she could be hurt ETC For us it turned out she was being poisoned by her dog food so we stopped giving her that kind and she's better now but if you can't get to a vet and you' re dogs in pain try giving him/her ibuprofen or (AKA) Motrin try a half and if that doesn't work go for a whole it wont hurt it if unless you give him/her 2 or more. Try that and keep me posted!!!!hi I'm Hanah as you probably know I have my own advice column to get answers email me roe_burgos@yahoo.com sorry if i don't get back to you quickly I'm pretty busy i get many of those a day so email me! that goes for anyone who sees this! : )
