It was on my right ear while she was playing with my hair. I use to get similar bites somewhere else but no wounds were made. Maybe since my ear's skin is a lot thinner. I went to a nearby hospital and allowed them to shoot me some first set of anti-rabies just to make sure. I rem the vet told me that it should take 5days after my puppy's shot before she'd be totally fine. So I was a little scared. Should I continue with the costly and horrible SHOTS? Please advice. Thanks!

You might consider consulting with your local Department of Animal Control. In California, these departments are run by the county; it might be different elsewhere.

The Department of Animal Control knows how much rabies there is in the area where you live - some areas in the US have essentially zero rabies while others have more.

In addition, the Department of Animal Control can observe your puppy. Animals can't transmit rabies until they're in the late stages of the infection so if a dog shows no sign of rabies for 10 days after it bit a person, it means that the dog couldn't have transmitted rabies at the time of the bite.

You might also consider consulting with an Infectious Diseases physician - especially regarding the question as to whether or not you should finish the rabies series once you started it.

Good luck!

I'd take your dog to the vet and ask them about it. Rabies can be dormant in a body for a long time and then hit hard, which is why it IS important to react fast.

Furthermore, how long have you had the dog? Has she been outside unsupervised or around unvaccinated animals?

Dogs don't have rabies until they get their rabies shots. The rabies shots just prevent rabies in the future. So your dog probably doesn't even have rabies.

I'm sure you're perfectly fine because the puppy was very young and is likely rabies-free

You're okay...most animals don't have rabies and it is a precaution. You wont need shots! You are really worrying about it too much.
