My understanding is simple: there is no holy book that has sufficient evidence to call it truthful. There is no evidence to indicate that there is a supreme being or beings.

The whole Bible is a revelation of and by Jesus Christ. He is the word of God:

John 1:
1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The word of God was pre-ordained and established in heaven:

Psalms 119:89-91:
"Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven...

The scriptures are inspired:

2 Tim 3:14 - 4:4:
"You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned; and that ...you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be complete and proficient, thoroughly equipped for every good work. I charge (you) in the presence of God and of Jesus Christ, ... preach the Word! Be ready in season (and) out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all great patience and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths."

All of the Bible is God inspired, through revelation of dream, vision, and visitation. The books we have were chosen through prayer by the early churches.
