You can't. It's like trying not to think of pink elephants. You're becoming obsessional about being obsessional. I've had these thoughts, and what eventually helped me was to just accept them, and let them come and go. This will be extremely difficult at first, but eventually, you'll feel less anxious when the thoughts come, and they'll ( hopefully ) begin to fade away. Another thing to bear in mind is that the bad thoughts you're getting are usually things that you find abhorrent. For example, you may be a devout Christian, and experience thoughts of blasphemy and the like. You may feel like you're a bad person, but it's just the thoughts that are tricking you. Remember this too-they're just thoughts..everyone experiences them from time to time, it's just that for some unknown reason people with OCD become plagued by them.

I have a mild form of OCD and I'm Bipolar as well. I think you should try to find new interests and make it a point to build a schedule for yourself that includes activities that help you grow and forget about the stuff you don't wanna think about. Make sure the activities are fun and something that really interests you or that will grow you in some way.
For me it's writing stories, meditating, yoga and surfing the net (answering questions on Yahoo answers haha). So yea, hope this helps.
Oh and it's a journey - keep trying at it - Practice makes perfect! :) GL

I'm almost like that. The only way that can make me stop thinking bad thoughts is make myself busy, so I don't have time to think. Everytime this pops up in my head, "Why did he say that?Did he say it on purpose to hurt me?" I didn't continue trying to find why. I cook my own food, do a bit of gardening, clean my room, exercise, and the point is..just make myself busy. I even bought some pc games that need lots of thinking, puzzles..anything that can make my brain focused on how to solve the problem. When I pick movie DVDs to watch, I avoid life dramas because they'd remind me of my life and try to connect what's going on in the movie and what I've done with my life. Comedies give me a lot of pleasure and laugh and forget what has happened in the past. Try to keep yourself busy. It's better to think about what to cook today, where to find the ingredients, and measure the amount precisely rather than thinking about the past. Good luck.

As soon as the thought to act on OCD comes up in your mind, ponder on something else. Relax and meditate on different calming thoughts... people you love, the happiest day of your life, an exciting event you look forward to, etc. Take up a hobby, like crocheting, or painting... something to occupy your hands when you feel compulsive.

you have accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and don't mess with mr. in-between.
you take yourself by the scruff of the neck and block negativity with positive actions. your mind will come along. you are in charge.
