I am working on a robot with a club; one of our best ideas involves using tank like tracks instead of normal wheels. We don't want to waist a huge amount of money on these but we want descent quality. Does anyone have any idea where we could purchase these?

You can get the Lego tracks which are high quality ones and very inexpensive. Lego call it "tread techinic" part #: 680c01

In order to have a complete system you need also (from Lego) two 16 tooth gear, 2 axles and four tread hub, everything, including the two tracks will cost you less than 5 bucks new.

You can get them (and thousands of useful things more for robotics) from:

Go into the shop you prefer and look at "Parts" and then in the techinic category or make a search.

When I need these things on a low budget I always go to a junk yard, with patience you may find something. I don't know where you live, but maybe you can find a recycling co. nearby, where they may have tons of old machines and stuff. With a little persuation maybe you could gain access.
