greed, lovers of money more than lovers of people..How will a *Better Education* enhance society ? or will you jsy leave those other educational matters up to the government? or maybe to a nanny or a dysfunctional parent or to the school teacher? or maybe you will just let the Individual Person* make up thier own rules if they want to be a decent moral person on thier own terms?

Could there be a more limited definition of "education"?

Education IS about teaching all those things. And it's best achieved by rational consensus, not ideological coercion. That is why all education, including a science education, will improve society, enable people to get along and love their neighbor, compared to the appalling mess it's been left with in the hands of a religion-led "morality".

Hopefully not by teaching mankind that anybody with different beliefs or lifestyles is bad, going to Hell, or should be killed.

I would think that might be a good first step.

As funny as it seemingly is to you, I would, indeed, leave it up to parents, family and teachers, among others. They're probably on the whole not as evil as you think!

So let me throw the question back at you. How will Christianity teach mankind to get along? Empty phrases like "love thy neighbour" that very few follow? Or is there perhaps a Plan B? I have to say that Christianity's track record is less than impressive when it comes to getting along!

Morality is not dependent upon religion - it has existed in societies long before the onset of religion. Go and view an Amazonian tribe - they do not know of your deity but have a very strict moral code.

Better education is necessary so that as a country we can compete in a global marketplace. If America keeps its conservative, xenophobic policies it will send itself back to the technological dark ages while the rest of the world passes us by. It's time America realized it cannot separate itself from the world but has to be a part of it.

Good Question.

Atheism shows many different faces and frighteningly there is no common ground. Peronsally, I feel they would not know how to govern themselves. Regarding morality thats about as foreign as God is to them! They cant say this is right and this is wrong, how would they justify it? Atheism is a doomed ideology and although they profess to piggy back "science/higher education" they just use it as an intellectual excuse to promote there sycophantic agendas and debauch sincere individuals who wish to lead a wholesome moral life. In my lifetime I've spoken to Atheist's and lots of them out there just want to mockingly substantiate why your faith is wrong and insult individuals with godly devotion. Seriously how dare they!

Take Care Everybody.

All *Better Education* does is force a scientific theory onto people that have no understanding of the process in an attempt to get people to believe it

I am confused.

We have been living with your religion for nearly 2000 years, and what good do we have to show for it?

If your religion hasn't done anything to better humanity (which it clearly hasn't) then what are you so desperately trying to safeguard?

Education dispels superstition. That is a fact. The more educated you are the less likely you are to fall for religious nonsense.

It is not the responsibility of science to tell people how to live. Science exists to explain reality, and provide the capabilites for living a better life through technology. It is up to us as people to decide how we want our society to function.

People have been living good moral lives FAR before your religion came on the scence.

We have a thing for morals, it's called societal pressure, and it IS what accounts for a person's morality. I'm not an atheist, but I do believe the non-religious are on level ground as far as ethics and morals- you just think that you're standing on a mountain over them, if you catch my drift.

When was that ever taught by the education system in the first place? That should come from parents and wider society.

The Bible might preach "Love thy Neighbor", but people seemed to overlook that during the Crusades.

Religions divide society. Once you start doing that you promote violence.

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction." — Blaise Pascal (1623-1662).
