Wear what the salespeople in the store wear. If they are wearing suits, wear a suit and tie. Get a haircut (if needed). Get really slicked up.

Act like you are meeting someone you greatly admire. Be polite and always shake a hand that is extended to you or be first to extend your hand when being introduced to someone. And act confident. Sales people have to be confident.

They will probably ask what experience you have in this field and why they should hire you rather than the person ahead of you or behind you.

Frosty's answer is "right on". If you have time, and opportunity, check out what they have on the racks and base your clothing on similar. Should the the other sales people be a generation older, you are not required to wear their style of clothing
but should wear something suitable to your age,
in neutral colors, (grey with blue, for example) - avoid bright colours so you blend in rather than appear to want the spotlight on you. Dark blue, pressed, jeans with a wrinkle-free sport shirt and sport jacket might be appropriate and TWO THINGS of the utmost importance are - spotlessly, clean, fingernails and polished shoes! Manners and friendliness are necessary in any position so, r e l a x and be yourself and ask questions about the store: how long it's been there; how many people were on the original staff; average age of customers; busiest
day of the week; and, do not ask how much time for coffee break, lunch or what time you will leave
at end of day as you must convince them you intend to view this position as an important addition to your life! Let them know you see this as an opportunity to, not only, meet "new" people but help them with their fashion decisions.
