I think that too many either misunderstood, the question. or never read the whole question.
yes I respect others right to believe as they do, whether it is a religion, or a non religious belief system.
you can find good point in every belief, if you are willing to look.

I am an Atheist.
Frankly I don't care if you believe in dragons and spirit trees, but don't expect me to crown you as a genius if you do.
I keep my feelings to myself until you or others like you open the conversation, usually by trying to convince of something I find absurd. At that point I will react just as I am doing here.
If a scientist has a theory that is proved wrong, I don't have to and won't respect him or his theory. The Sun orbits the Earth, we still have Flat Earth people, people who believe we never went to the Moon and people who believe in deities. Just because you have some crackpot theory doesn't mean I have to respect you and honor your theory. If you have a theory I ask for proof. While the absence of proof is not the proof of absence it is certainly not the proof of presence either.
Prove you Deity exists and I will not only respect you; I will join you.... Until then do as I do; keep it to yourself or share it with people of similar persuasion.

I do respect other religions, faiths and belief systems, as I feel they are all one puzzle and different pieces of that puzzle.
I am a spiritualist-Someone who doesn't take to one religion, but I do lov eto study all philosophies and religions to gain a better understanding of God and of life.
It's as though the people in the world are all living in the same house but each person, who represents a different religion is looking out a different window. The house is God.
Each person will have a different view, but who is wrong?
no one is wrong, they just each have a different view based on their location.
I also believe that God gave everyone a different teacher b.c each culture had different needs and at those times.
For example all religions God says don't kill and do onto others as you'd have done to you-All of them usually, (but let's say "most" incase i'm wrong) The golden rule is set there b.c it applies to everyone...But maybe one religion says the cow is holy, don't eat it-but another does not..Why? Different God? or just a different window? Maybe there was a historical reason God made those people in that area not eat cows. ...Maybe they were diseased...We don't know the reason. That's okay.
I learn by participating.
I've been to Christian churches.
I've participated in Pujah prayer ceremony (Hindu)
and been to a Gurdwara(Sikhism)
It's fun not to be ignorant as you gain an understanding as to how much is really the same than what is different.
For example Christians say Jesus is the only one to rise from the dead... Sikh's also have a Guru who died and his body disapeared. Very interesting!
God obviously loved to travel.
Someone said "How can I respect a religion that says to Kill those who don't believe in Islam?"
All religions seem to get this into their books somehow-kill witches! kill christians! kill those who arent chrsitians!-blah blah lol. Lots of religions-But!!!! what is God saying? and what is societies laws and beliefs at the times being placed in??
That's what I ask myself first. God says in all religions-Don't kill...so which one am I going to believe?

People don't respect other people's views on politics that's why they're openly debated. Heard of the Daily Show or the Colbert Report or Bill Maher?
Religion should be susceptible to the same kind of scrutiny.
But it isn't, it's put up in a pedestal and we're in the process of bringing it down. I don't even know why religion should be respected at all, would you respect someone's beliefs that he has to kill everyone wearing white sneakers because his God said so? Christians and Muslims do the same thing with homosexuals.
Theists not only know that God exists but they claim to know what God thinks and what He wants from everyone.

America and God gives us a choice on faith. However, giving you that choice does not protect you from hearing the truth of christianity. Now you can deny christianity. You can hate the Bible, but you cannot tell christians that they have to keep quiet. You can, but the answer is what Peter said:
Acts 5:
28: Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
29: Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

I have a great respect for other religions and the right for people to practice their beliefs unless their practices infringe on my rights. For instance I have perfect respect for a catholic who chooses not to get an abortion but I do not respect a catholic who wants to infringe on my right to choose. I also do not respect people who try to convert others to their religion without being invited to do so.

One should respect others irrespective of race colour or creed, that being, whether Catholic Morman Anglican and Christian Creed. If people turn their backs on our Lord Jesus Christ and set upon believers as Muslims for instance are taught to do then they deserve only contempt, and the sort of respect one reserves for poisonous Vipers, spiders or Scorpion..

No, I don't respect all religions. Respect is earned. However, I would never condemn an individual's choice or belief system when the person lives that belief through peace and love.

Someone once said to me about this. It's kinda changed around, but the intention still the same, I suppose.
"The term of religious tolerance, is often referred to as Christians tolerating others, but not as often referred to as others tolerating Christians. In effect, it's not easy to create religious tolerance when neither side gives up."
But I try to respect the various religions as much as I possibly can.
