It could be just about anything, it's just the way your body is physically reacting to something emotionally charged. Almost like a little party of "butterflies" in your tummy, it leaves almost an "uncomfortable" feeling, like you have to go to the washroom or something. You're not very familiar with the feeling and that's what brings on even more "butterflies", so take a few good breaths and try to calm your emotions, it doesn't last forever.. Good Luck

as s sufferer of stress related anxiety I will tell you it is not stress or anxiety, being anxious is different and relates to nerves. It is nerves, now for my question to you.

Do you have butterfly's all the time?
If so, do you have a feeling of dread, being trapped, or doom?
Do you feel death around the corner?

This can be a sign of several mental disorders from Anxiety to Paranoia, and you need to seek medical help as soon as possible, first go to a regular doctor and get physical to make sure nothing is wrong with you internally, then ask to be refered to a psychologist.

i would describe it as your heart beating faster than usual from anything that makes you excited, whether it's stress, nervousness, anxiety, fear, or joy

It could actually be all of the above.

anxiety - before a test, or speach
stress - dreading going to work, or school
nervous - going to the principal's or bosses office
joy - seeing the person you are in love with
